To Hold…
The title To Hold… is derived from traditional wedding vows and explores embodied responses to loss of control, fear, and the desire for human connection. To desire something so much you morph it into a negative of your image.
I produced components for this work with help from an amazing team at Pittsburgh Glass Center. There are about 40 blown glass vessels, a video, bronze tools, and poplat tables. Since I cannot hold the glass directly I produced brinze castings from my body to compress and hold the glass vessels. Leaving the imprint of the body on the glass, and the glass in turn become the negative space of the embrace.
